== Function == Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a hormone consisting of 30 amino acids. GLP-1 is released by intestinal L cells when nutrients are consumed. GLP1R is expressed on beta cells in the pancreas. Binding of GLP-1 to GLP1R has multiple effects, including enhancing insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells in response to glucose, increasing insulin expression, preventing beta-cell apoptosis, promoting the formation of new beta cells, reducing glucagon secretion, slowing down stomach emptying, promoting satiety, and improving glucose disposal in peripheral tissues. GLP1R is also expressed in the brain where it is involved in the control of appetite.

The Zulu Kingdom is currently part of South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal (of which the King of the Zulu Nation is the monarch), one of the country's nine provinces, under the leadership of King MisuZulu ka Zwelithini. A large portion of the territory is made up of wildlife reserves and a major contributing source of income is derived from tourism – the area is known for its savanna covered hills. It is home to a WWF Black Rhinoceros reintroduction project known as "The Black Rhino Range Expansion Project" within the Zululand Rhino Reserve (ZRR). The ZRR is a 20,000 hectare reserve consisting of 15 individually owned farms that have lowered their fences in order to further conservation. === Atrial myxoma === Myxomas are usually located in either the left or right atrium of the heart; about 86 percent occur in the left atrium. Myxomas are typically pedunculated, with a stalk that is attached to the interatrial septum. The most common location for attachment of the stalk is the fossa ovalis region of the interatrial septum. An atrial myxoma may create an extra heart sound, audible to auscultation just after S2. It is most seen on echocardiography, as a pedunculated mass that is heterogeneous in appearance. A left atrial myxoma will cause an increase in pulmonary capillary wedge pressure. The differential diagnosis include other cardiac tumors such as lipomas and rhabdomyomas (and rarely teratomas). These other tumors of the heart are typically not pedunculated, however, and are more likely to infiltrate the muscle of the heart. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can help non-invasively diagnose cardiac tumors. However, diagnosis usually requires examination of a tissue sample by a pathologist.
== Medical uses == As a treatment (oral or injection), it is used to treat or prevent pyridoxine deficiency, sideroblastic anaemia, pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy, certain metabolic disorders, side effects of isoniazid treatment and certain types of mushroom poisoning. Isoniazid is an antibiotic used for the treatment of tuberculosis. Its common side effects include numbness in the hands and feet. Co-treatment with vitamin B6 alleviates the numbness. Pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy is a type of rare infant epilepsy that does not improve with typical anti-seizure medications. Pyridoxine in combination with doxylamine is used as a treatment for morning sickness in pregnant women.
=== Gonads and sexual development === In mice, adropin treatment significantly increased sperm count and testicular testosterone by increasing expression of GPR19 and steroidogenic proteins via modulating redox potential. In the mouse ovary, adropin and GPR19 are strongly detected in the granulosa cells of large antral follicles and corpus luteum. An additional study suggests a role for adropin in the acceleration of pubertal development.

On August 31, 2022, FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed that six CONCACAF teams would qualify for the World Cup, with Canada, Mexico, and the United States automatically qualifying as hosts. This was confirmed by the FIFA Council on February 14, 2023. Immediately prior to the 67th FIFA Congress, the FIFA Council approved the slot allocation during a meeting in Manama, Bahrain. This included an inter-confederation playoff tournament involving six teams to decide the last two FIFA World Cup spots. The six teams in the playoffs comprised one team from each confederation excluding UEFA, and one additional team from the confederation of the host countries (CONCACAF). Two of those teams were seeded based on the World Rankings, and they played the winners of two knockout matches between the four unseeded teams for the two FIFA World Cup berths. The four-match tournament was played in Mexico, one of the host countries, and was also used as a test event for the FIFA World Cup. The ratification of slot allocation also gave the OFC a guaranteed berth in the final tournament for the first time: the 2026 FIFA World Cup was the first tournament in which all six confederations had at least one guaranteed berth and also the first time since the 2010 edition in which all confederations had a team qualify for the World Cup finals. === 1995–1996: Alice in Chains === While Alice in Chains was inactive during 1995, Staley joined the "grunge supergroup" Mad Season, which also featured Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, bassist John Baker Saunders from The Walkabouts, and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin. Mad Season released one album, Above, for which Staley provided lead vocals and the album artwork. The album spawned a number two Mainstream Rock chart single, "River of Deceit", and a home video release of Live at the Moore. In April 1995, Alice in Chains entered Bad Animals Studio in Seattle with producer Toby Wright, who had previously worked with Corrosion of Conformity and Slayer. While in the studio, an inferior version of the song "Grind" was leaked to radio, and received major airplay. On October 6, the band released the studio version of the song to radio via satellite uplink to stem the excessive spread of taped copies of the song. On November 7, 1995, Columbia Records released their self-titled album, Alice in Chains, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified triple platinum. Of the album's four singles, "Grind", "Again", "Over Now", and "Heaven Beside You", three feature Cantrell on lead vocals.
