=== Aging === Targeting ferroptosis has emerged as a strategy for mitigating age-related tissue decline. Chronic low-grade systemic inflammation (inflammaging), a hallmark of aging, has been identified as a primary trigger for ferroptotic death in muscle stem cell (MuSC) populations. In mice, long-term administration of the anti-inflammatory compound bindarit, initiated at midlife, suppresses age-associated inflammation and prevents the epigenetic erosion of the Kmt5a–H4K20me1 axis in MuSCs. This preserves the expression of the antioxidant enzyme GPX4, shielding the MuSC pool from iron-dependent lipid peroxidation and maintaining regenerative capacity during aging. More broadly, inhibition of ferroptosis — through radical-trapping antioxidants such as ferrostatin-1 and liproxstatin-1, or through iron chelation — extends lifespan and healthspan in model organisms such as Caenorhabditis elegans. In the context of osteoarthritis, senescent macrophages in skeletal muscle have been shown to promote ferroptosis in myofibers through iron overload and disruption of coenzyme Q10 biosynthesis, contributing to peri-articular muscle atrophy; treatment with CoQ10 attenuates this process.
A series of 3-benzazepine derivatives, such as Lorcaserin (Figure 6) have been evaluated for their potency and selectivity for the 5-HT2C receptors. Lorcaserin is a very potent agonist, but the potency is dependent on the presence of a chloro substituent in position 8. Arylpiperazine-containing compounds such as mCPP (Figure 7), show good potency toward the 5-HT2C receptors, but do not have sufficient selectivity for the 5-HT2C receptors over the other two receptor subtypes. Bowen continued increasing the voltage in the transmitter, starting with the 5000 volt maximum suggested by the Navy, but increasing in steps over several months to 12,000 V, which produced pulses of 200 kW. Arcing between the valves required the transmitter to be rebuilt with more room between them, while arcing on the antenna was solved by hanging copper balls from the dipole to reduce corona discharge. By June the system was working well, although Bainbridge-Bell proved to be so skeptical of success that Watt eventually returned him to the RRS and replaced him with Nick Carter. The Tizard Committee visited the site on 15 June to examine the team's progress. Watt secretly arranged for a Vickers Valentia to fly nearby, and years later insisted that he saw the echoes on the display, but no one else recalls seeing these. Watt decided not to return to the RRS with the rest of the Tizard group and stayed with the team for another day. With no changes made to the equipment, on 17 June the system was turned on and immediately provided returns from an object at 17 mi (27 km). After tracking it for some time, they watched it fly off to the south and disappear.

=== Direct inguinal hernia === The direct inguinal hernia enters through a weak point in the fascia of the abdominal wall, and its sac is noted to be medial to the inferior epigastric vessels. Direct inguinal hernias may occur in males or females, but males are ten times more likely to get a direct inguinal hernia. A direct inguinal hernia protrudes through a weakened area in the transversalis fascia near the medial inguinal fossa within an anatomic region known as the inguinal or Hesselbach's triangle, an area defined by the edge of the rectus abdominis muscle, the inguinal ligament and the inferior epigastric artery. These hernias are capable of exiting via the superficial inguinal ring and are unable to extend into the scrotum.
=== Obesity and overweight adults === In 2019 a systematic review compared the effects on weight of various doses of fluoxetine (60 mg/d, 40 mg/d, 20 mg/d, 10 mg/d) in obese and overweight adults. When compared to placebo, all dosages of fluoxetine appeared to contribute to weight loss but lead to increased risk of experiencing side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, insomnia, and nausea, during the period of treatment. However, these conclusions were from low-certainty evidence. When comparing, in the same review, the effects of fluoxetine on the weight of obese and overweight adults, to other anti-obesity agents, omega-3 gel capsule and not receiving treatment, the authors could not reach conclusive results due to poor quality of evidence.
